Love In Ten Lines

Hello and happy Saturday!

April is National Poetry Month and a wonderful opportunity for those of us who fancy ourselves as poets to take up the challenge to create a poem a day. Though I love writing poetry, I won't lie, I have found it hard this month-but it's already day we're a third of the way there!

Today, the lovely Jeanine from jsack1's blog nominated me to create a love poem.
Well, hello sweet woman complimenting my soul-I seriously appreciate it!
It is extremely appreciated as she is quite a dedicated writer and I value her opinion. I could not pinpoint a genre for Jeanine as she is a jill-of-all-trades. She can uplift your spirits with beautiful poetry, she can take a random prompt and make it her bitch, she shares about her life, her children, her experiences and has a gentle strength and beauty that shines through her writing.

On to the rules yes?

The rules are as follows:

•Write about love using only 10 lines.
•Use the word love in every line.
•Each line can only be four words long.
•Nominate others who are up for the challenge.
•Let them know about the challenge.
•Title the post: Love in Ten Lines
•Include a quote about love (this can be your own).
•You may write in any language.

Love, in ten lines?

Give love a chance.

Love when it's hard.
Love when you're tired.
Love when they're broken.

Love is not political.
Love is not a choice.

Love is an opportunity.

But love is tricky.

To truly love others,
fucking love yourself first.

And that's all she wrote!

I am not going to nominate anyone here but I do invite you to challenge yourself if you are so tempted.

Thank you for reading and happy writing to you.
Oh, and seriously-love yourself.

You are worthy of love. You were not made to be abused, demeaned, ignored, or go through anything else that would wear down your soul and crush your heart. Find and appreciate that strength you have inside you and cut out all the negative in your life.

You do not need to explain why you are purging the negative.

You just need to realize you are worthy of love and happiness.

  1. Oh I loved your poem so much you brilliant woman!!! Thank you for accepting the love poetry challenge. As always you made my heart soar with your beautiful words for me and your poem!!! Knocked it right out of the park darling. Simply beautiful, I adore you too. 💞

  2. Awesome sweets! That's right, "fucking love yourself!'

    1. Thanks Gretchen!

If you can't love yourself-how in the hell are you going to love somebody else?!

-The one, the only RuPaul ❤
